Building on Molly Kinder’s framing of the Messy Middle, Attention Inc. uses the Murky Middle to identify the human experience inside it: work is changing, familiar vocational pathways may be thinning, and the signals about what comes next remain difficult to interpret. The conditions may be murky, but you are not, and UnMuted exists to bring clarity to these murky conditions.
AI is not only changing jobs. It is changing entry points, career ladders, the value assigned to familiar skills, and the assumptions people have made about what work will continue to exist in the AI Age. For some, disruption arrives through a layoff. For others, it arrives more subtly: a role is not replaced, an entry-level position never opens, or years of experience no longer translate cleanly into the next opportunity.
UnMuted does not claim that your destination is already known. It gives you a unique way to navigate uncertainty while the landscape is still shifting.

Work that looks routine from the outside often requires considerable human-centered skills such as discernment, coordination, institutional memory, risk recognition, relationship management, exception handling, and practical problem-solving. UnMuted helps you identify these characteristics that you have cultivated and translate them into language that can transfer into new settings.
The AI does not define who you are or decide what you should become. You remain in control as you navigate the journey.
Compass Method
The Compass Journey
Clarify your experience. Identify what is changing, what you need, and what remains uncertain.
Own your expertise. Rediscover and document examples of what you have done, how you have been a positive influence, and what you have made possible in your environment.
Map your contribution. Translate tasks you have completed and titles you have held into meaningful contributions that can be transferred into other contexts.
Plot possible directions. Develop several plausible options rather than depending on AI to define them for you.
Assess your needs. Consider income, benefits, schedule, physical demands, caregiving, location, training cost, entry requirements, and continued AI exposure.
Start real-world tests. Use conversations, work samples, short learning experiences, and other low-risk experiments to test assumptions.
Step forward. Choose a responsible next step and create a plan you can review and revise.

- A comparison grounded in your actual needs.

Universal
Ground your decisions in your hard-earned skills, responsibility, practical wisdom, and your values. If spiritual questions come up along the way, an optional door is offered to explore them — always your choice, never required.
Christian-Integrated
Explore vocation, purpose and calling, dignity, love, lament, hope, and faithful service within the context of biblical truth.
In either pathway, the AI will be your thought partner and will not determine your calling or tell you which profession God wants for you. This is something for you to explore through prayer and meditation.
An open door
If spiritual questions ever come up for you.
The Universal pathway is completely human-centered with no spiritual questions examined. But honest reflection sometimes raises questions that go deeper than works skills and strategy. That is, questions about meaning, purpose and identity. If that happens, we want to provide you a way to think through these questions in the Universal pathway. But the choice is always yours.

What UnMuted does and does not do
UnMuted is all about reflection, evidence gathering, vocational exploration, and user-approved planning. It does not create jobs, predict the labor market, guarantee employment, certify competency, make employment decisions, or replace licensed career, financial, or legal counsel.
Labor-market information should be verified against current sources. Bring your decisions to your people in the real world.
